A review of CPT and ICD codes as they relate to coding and billing medical eye care services. Strong emphasis on chart documentation required to code and bill medical eye care services. Emphasis on choosing 99000 E&M vs. 92000 ophthalmology codes, billing intermediate and comprehensive examinations and special procedures, and post-operative care including glasses after cataract surgery. A preview of the changes in the 99000 E&M codes for 2021 will be included. Additionally, there will be a presentation on optometrist's role in medical eye care to include billing medical insurance vs. vision benefit plans.
