Think About Your Eyes is a national public awareness campaign, presented by The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association, designed to educate the public on the benefits of vision health and promote the importance of getting an annual comprehensive eye exam.

  • Patients who take action because of Think About Your Eyes have a shorter exam cycle—from 24 months to 14 months, a time span cut by nearly half.
  • Patients are purchasing at a higher rate—a 34% increase in contact lens sales, a 41% increase in glasses sales—this means growth for the industry.
  • In 2017, 3.4 million eye exams* can be attributed to the campaign, resulting in industry revenue of $752 million.

The Eyecessorize campaign communicates the latest eyewear trends and lifestyle options to consumers, with the goal of positioning eyeglasses, sunglasses and reading glasses as must-have fashion accessories and health necessities in the media. Visit the Eyecessorize website to follow its eyewear fashion blog and view seasonal trends.

  • I like the different and the unique, thinking outside the box. Finding not just exciting new frames but engaging my mind and finding ways to engage my clients minds back home is important to me. Vision Expo allows me the opportunities to do just that, to get an immersive experience into eyewear and eyecare.
    Adam Ramsey, OD, Iconic Eye Care

  • I love coming to Vision Expo because I get to wear two hats while I’m here. From the shop perspective, I get to do all of my buying all at once, see amazing brands and spot trends for the next year. Seeing the latest and greatest in lens technology and tools all in one place, in a hands-on way is extremely valuable. From a networking perspective it’s great to be in a space where everyone is together with all things optical and joining together for a passion we all share.
    Sheena Taff, Licensed Optician, Roberts & Brown Opticians

  • The best part of Vision Expo was being able to listen to experts in the field of dry eye and then go to the Exhibit Hall and do side-by-side comparisons of the different instruments and products that were mentioned during the course. One-stop shopping at its best!
    Carol Wilson, Practice Manager, Bear Creek Eye Care Optometry

  • I just returned from my first Vision Expo and all I can say is I LOVED it! I’m hooked. I will definitely be back next year.
    Julianne R Knowles, OD, FAAO, Director, Family Practice Service; Co-Coursemaster Optometry II, Clinical Associate Professor

  • This year Vision Expo West was extraordinary! I was excited to attend the 30th anniversary! The Show had thousands of collections of eyewear to explore! I even discovered a few brand-new collections. Anything you may need for your optical business can be found easily using the mobile app. My absolute favorite part of Vision Expo this year was meeting people that know me on social media from all over the world that are in our industry. It was wonderful to meet them in person.
    Micki Lorelli, LDO, Juno Beach Optical, @opticrush

  • Attending Vision Expo reminds me of how this huge industry can still be such a small world. I love having the chance to educate myself on the newest trends and best care for my customers…I still leave each year feeling rejuvenated with fresh ideas and extra inspiration for bettering my career and my optical team.
    @memily_b, Discerning Eye

  • I’m always excited to see the vendors that we deal with all year long to see what new products they have out and discuss face-to-face instead of via the phone or email. I liked that I can talk to people that I don’t see all year long; it keeps me going for the next year.
    Bo Smith, Low Vision Manager

  • The best part about education at Vision Expo is the variety, being able to pick and choose what’s important to you and your practice, and take home what you need.
    Denis Larsen, Dr’s Kim, Kim and Larsen Associates, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

  • There are people and vendors from all over the world. It just gives such a global view about what’s happening in the rest of the world, because just practicing in this country or even in your state you don't have as much exposure to what is happening everywhere else.
    Angelina Kahlon, Optometrist

  • I like to tour around the Exhibit Hall, see what’s new, see what’s up and coming in terms of eyewear and technology. There is always something to look forward to.
    Dr. Martin Spino, Optometrist

  • I like to come to Vision Expo to see new products, what’s on the market and what’s being shown. You’ve got everything under one roof, so I think that really helps.
    Nina Levy, Practice Manager

  • You have everything here, everything in one location . . . I’m excited to see frames, new styles, seeing which direction they are going. I look at new styles and see where they would fit in my location.
    Samantha Hunter, Supervisor, Ni Optical, Optimum Member

  • "I attended Vision Expo with my doctors and coworker to take a bunch of the amazing classes that were offered and for us to get some amazing new lines of glasses for the office. I'm from NY but now live and work in NC. We traveled to experience everything the expo had to offer. We came back with new knowledge and awesome new merchandise!"
    @nytiffany48

  • "This expo creates a new positive energy for our practice. It enlarges our vision and creates more business opportunities for us all."
    CRONNET EYE CLINIC, @cronneteyeclinic

  • I love going to Vision Expo East because I think the education is phenomenal. It’s very personal, it’s very interactive. I love that the show floor is right outside the door. You can leave a class and go check out the technology you just heard about in class and are able to go right outside and actually look at it and see what it looks like and are able to buy it.
    April Jasper, OD, FAAO, Advanced Eyecare Specialists, Speaker at Primary Care A Female Perspective

  • The speakers were all excellent; everybody had a sense of humor, everybody was clear and it was very enlightening . . . I gained the incentive to study more about certain areas that I didn't know about before.
    Dr. Barbara Ronson, Optometrist, Cohen’s Fashion Optical

  • All of the vendors are in one spot, it's really nice. It gives me a chance to see things that I haven’t had a chance to check out before. Right now I work buying for a private practice and we have a lot of product but not everything. So it’s nice to come to Vision Expo and be able to see the product that is out there.
    Jon Leervig, Owner, Betty’s Mobile Optical, LLC (buyer-retail)

  • As a student, my first Vision Expo experience was all about learning. For me, #WhyIGo is about what opportunities it will provide for me in the future and hearing about how ODs have opened doors beyond the scope of their practice!
